Contemporary Endodontics Enhanced CPD Quality Assurance Policy

As a provider of CPD, Contemporary Endodontics Ltd must adhere to the General Dental Council's (GDC) quality controls. For more information on these requirements, please see the GDC Provider Guidance Document

Educational Governance Policy

The GDC recommends that you carry out a diverse range of verifiable CPD relevant to your field of practice. Contemporary Endodontics Ltd aims to provide CPD in a breadth of subjects to supplement the delegates clinical work and knowledge based on the needs of the participants. These courses are both lecture based and hands-on, giving the participants opportunity for discussions and interactive learning. All courses are evidence based and satisfy one or more GDC development outcomes. These are clearly stated on the sign up page, alongside the learning content and concise aims and objectives, so the delegates can make an informed decision that satisfies their personal development plan (PDP).

Equality and Diversity Policy

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd does not tolerate direct or indirect discrimination, harassment, or victimisation. We are dedicated to promoting a culture where diversity and dignity is encouraged, respected, and valued by all.

We are committed to providing equal opportunity and fairness to all delegates and lecturers, enabling individuals to give and achieve their best. We will not provide less favourable facilities or treatment on the grounds of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, pregnancy and maternity, race, religion or belief, sex and sexual orientation.

Anyone who feels that they have been subjected to discrimination is encouraged to raise a concern so we can apply corrective measures.

Accessibility Policy

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd is committed to ensuring that its online platform is accessible to all participants, including those with disabilities or additional learning needs. We aim to meet or exceed WCAG 2.1 Level AA accessibility standards across our digital content.

Our accessibility commitments include:

  • Providing subtitles and/or transcripts for all video content
  • Ensuring platform compatibility with common screen readers and assistive technologies
  • Designing course content and navigation to be operable via keyboard alone where possible
  • Providing content in clear, plain language wherever appropriate

Participants who require additional support or accommodations are encouraged to contact us at support@contemporaryendo.com prior to commencing any course. We will make reasonable adjustments to support full participation wherever possible.

CPD Needs Assessment

All delegates will have their own personal development plan (PDP), alongside goals that they have set to achieve throughout their CPD cycle. Contemporary Endodontics Ltd courses will cover a variety of objectives, as set by the regulators (i.e. GDC Supplementary outcomes). These are made available prior to any educational activity on the online platform, allowing the delegate to select courses that satisfy the needs of their PDP.

Peer Reviewed Content

All content is peer reviewed by the individual responsible for quality assurance, prior to the course. This is done to confirm that all content is:

  • Evidence based
  • Free from commercial bias
  • Fulfils the described aims and objectives
  • Satisfied the learning outcomes
  • Consistently meets the associated GDC outcomes
  • Up to date

Evidence-Based Content

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd understands the importance of evidence-based dentistry and therefore the use of evidence-based content within education.

An evidence-based approach ensures delivery of the best, high quality, contextually relevant information for participants, which down the line improves patient care and the treatment that they receive. Course content is reviewed regularly, or upon the introduction of new information, guidance or standards.

All course content undergoes a formal review at least every 12 months. The individual responsible for quality assurance is responsible for initiating each scheduled review. Any content identified as outdated during or between scheduled reviews will be flagged immediately and removed from active availability on the platform until it has been updated and re-approved through the peer review process.

Policies and Procedures to Avoid Commercial Bias

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd ensures that all course content is based on current evidence and is free from commercial bias, this is inclusive of the content development process.

Any commercial support and promotion is disclosed to the participants prior to any educational content. Any sponsors present during the educational content/event are also introduced prior to any given content.

Conflict of Interest Policy

All individuals involved in the development and delivery of CPD content — including speakers, course developers, and members of the planning committee — are required to declare any actual or potential conflicts of interest before content development begins, not solely at the point of delivery.

A conflict of interest may include, but is not limited to, financial relationships with commercial entities, ownership interests, or other affiliations that could influence course content. Where a conflict is identified, it will be managed through one or more of the following measures:

  • Disclosure to participants prior to any educational content
  • Removal of the conflicted individual from the relevant area of content development
  • Peer review of any affected content by an independent party

Any conflict of interest between the CPD provider and a speaker will be declared to participants in advance of the relevant course.

Appropriate Recruitment and Selection of Those Delivering CPD

All speakers are recruited based on their experience and expertise in the desired subject area. As the CPD provider we review their qualifications, previous track record and any historical feedback. Those delivering content are well respected clinicians and educators who use effective and engaging delivery methods. All qualifications and experience are available to any potential participants in advance of booking. Details are given throughout the marketing phase and on the sign-up page.

Recruitment of those delivering the CPD meets the requirements of the Equality Act 2010 and any conflict of interest between the CPD provider and speaker will be declared.

Integration of Pre-Existing Feedback

On the completion of each course, all participants are required to fill in a CPD feedback form to assess all areas of content and delivery.

Past feedback is systematically analysed, and any areas of improvement are reviewed by those individuals responsible for the CPD activity, inclusive of those developing and delivering the course content. When appropriate, a quality improvement strategy can be produced and implemented prior to the next course.

Transparency of Verifiable Criteria

As a CPD provider, every activity must have a list of criteria to assure the GDC that it is verifiable. Contemporary Endodontics Ltd ensure the transparency of criteria to any potential participants; the following information is detailed on the sign-up page so that all attendees can be satisfied that the content is relevant to their PDP prior to booking.

Verifiable Criteria:

  • Course title
  • Aims and objectives
  • Learning Outcomes
  • Date and Location (Online Platform – contemporaryendo.com)
  • Course duration
  • GDC development outcomes

Data Protection and Privacy Policy

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd is committed to handling all personal data in accordance with the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018.

The following principles govern how participant data is managed:

  • Participant data collected during the course registration, assessment, and feedback processes is used solely for the purposes of administering CPD and issuing certificates
  • CPD records and certificate data are retained for a minimum of seven years to support participants' GDC compliance obligations, after which data can be securely deleted
  • Feedback data is stored anonymously and is accessible only to those responsible for quality assurance and course improvement
  • Personal data is never shared with third parties for commercial purposes
  • Participants have the right to access, correct, or request deletion of their personal data at any time by contacting support@contemporaryendo.com

For full details on how your data is used, please refer to our Privacy Policy.

Robust Methods in Place to Confirm Attendance and Active Participation by Attendees

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd implements monitoring of the videos that are watched and the duration for which they are watched. A minimum watch threshold of 100% is required for each video before CPD credit for that activity is awarded. The platform tracks viewing progress and does not award credit for fast-forwarded or incomplete views. In addition, successful completion of the associated assessment questions is required alongside full video completion.

Participants are encouraged to discuss topics in Live Webinars, regularly ask and answer questions and talk about their own experiences/clinical cases. This helps us to tailor the content to their clinical needs.

Technical Support

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd recognises that, as an online platform, the reliability of the technical infrastructure is integral to the quality of the educational experience. The following technical support provisions are in place:

  • Technical issues — including video playback errors, certificate generation failures, or access problems — should be reported to support@contemporaryendo.com
  • We aim to acknowledge all technical support requests within 1 working day and to resolve issues within 3 working days wherever possible
  • Where a participant experiences an interruption mid-course (e.g. connectivity issues), their viewing progress is saved by the platform and they may resume from the point of interruption without loss of progress
  • Course content remains accessible to participants for the duration of their active membership

Methods to Monitor and Evaluate Content Delivery

All delegates complete an anonymous CPD feedback form at the end of the course, this encompasses content delivery. Feedback and any issues raised are then relayed back to the speaker for improvement.

The individual responsible for the quality assurance also assesses and monitors content delivery through observation throughout the course. Any constructive comments or feedback will then be passed onto the speakers.

Using Trainers with Expertise on the Subject, and/or Educational Expertise to Deliver the Content

As previously stated, all speakers are well respected clinicians with expertise in the desired field. They also have an excellent track record as educators. This wealth of knowledge and experience results in the development and delivery of high-quality content, that can easily be adapted to meet the needs of the participants.

Content that Demonstrates a Clear Relationship with Anticipated Development Outcomes Throughout Delivery

The GDC development outcomes are clearly stated prior to each CPD activity and are only assigned if there is a clear relationship to the subject content throughout the entirety of the course. An assessment of this established relationship can be assured through peer review prior to delivery and confirmed via the participant feedback process following the course.

Opportunities for Active Participation and/or Discussion During the Activity

An interactive approach to education gives all students the chance to engage with the speaker, as well as their peers, in ongoing discussions of content. This can happen in Live Webinars, with dedicated space for Q&As and expanding on the attendees questions. The opportunity to correspond with the speakers and educators is always given, with clear lines of communication via dedicated email addresses. Contemporary Endodontics Ltd aims to reply to all educational queries via the relevant speaker/educator.

Opportunities for Participant Reflection During the Activity

Reflective educational strategies are applied throughout all our courses in the form of discussion, Q&A sessions, and ongoing feedback from both the speaker and the participants. Contemporary Endodontics Ltd will regularly contact participants to learn from their experience regarding the online content, to tailor the education material and topics covered. All participants of the online platform can contact all the educators at Contemporary Endodontics Ltd via email at any time to offer feedback or ask questions regarding the online content.

Assessment of Learning

Speakers delivering the CPD activity will have the opportunity to assess individual participants throughout group discussions, questions, online community feedback and/or direct emails.

The online CPD system allows to ask participants questions regarding the relevant subject, requiring all answers to be correct prior to moving on to the next phase of the assessment. The CPD assessment allows for reflection on the relevant subject and stimulates the participants to think how they can apply that information into their practice. Contemporary Endodontics Ltd will be able to use the answers to the CPD reflection parts to refine the teaching material and target the required information in different subjects and/or clinical skills.

Accurate Measurement of Duration of Actual CPD Activity

The duration of verifiable CPD awarded to the participants is calculated by measuring the amount of time the video is watched for. The complete video must be watched for the CPD activity to take place. Programme development prior to the course enables us to calculate how many hours the CPD activities will run over, this can then be monitored and adapted accordingly.

Evidence of Completion

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd provides documentary evidence that verifiable CPD has been undertaken. This is sent to every delegate in the form of a certificate, detailing the following information:

  • The participants name and registration number
  • The subject, learning content and course aims and objectives
  • The date and online platform (contemporaryendo.com)
  • The total number of hours of verifiable CPD
  • The GDC development outcomes
  • A statement to confirm that the CPD is subject to quality assurance and information on who is providing it
  • Confirmation that the information contained is full and accurate

A Reflective Element for Participants to Link to their Personal Development Plan and Activity Log

To receive their CPD Certificate, each delegate is sent a series of reflective questions which encourage them to think about the following aspects of the course:

  • What they learnt
  • What skills have been maintained/developed
  • How it will affect/benefit their day to day work in clinic
  • Any changes they will make to their current work style/routine
  • How these changes will improve patient care

This can then be linked back to the participant activity log as part of their PDP.

Participant Evaluation and Feedback Methods That Are Used to Improve the Activity

Feedback is continuously obtained from members of the online platform. At least bi-annually, Contemporary Endodontics Ltd will seek feedback as to how to improve the online platform delivery of information. This will include the quality of content, method of delivery, and any other relevant educational tools.

Feedback will be obtained anonymously to allow for complete honesty without fear of identification or consequence. The feedback forms give participants the opportunity to give both qualitive and quantitative feedback on the following key areas:

  • Achievement of the videos' aims and objectives
  • Achievement of individual learning outcomes
  • Quality of educational design and delivery
  • The speaker's ability to engage participants
  • Relevance of content that links to the corresponding GDC outcomes
  • Value for money
  • The absence of commercial bias or promotion

These feedback forms are collected and stored so that they can be accessed at any time as part of our yearly peer review of education content. Issues raised are reflected on by individuals with the appropriate expertise and solutions are considered. A quality improvement strategy can then be established to implement any necessary changes.

There is an open opportunity for online members of the Contemporary Endodontics Ltd online platform to correspond directly with the speakers and software developers of the online platform: support@contemporaryendo.com

Safeguarding

Contemporary Endodontics Ltd recognises its responsibility to promote and safeguard the welfare of children and vulnerable adults. All educators and speakers delivering content through the platform are expected to uphold their professional safeguarding obligations in accordance with current GDC standards and relevant legislation.

Where course content touches on topics relevant to safeguarding — such as child protection, domestic abuse, or the management of vulnerable patients — this content is developed and reviewed with particular care to ensure it reflects current guidance and best practice. Any concerns relating to safeguarding within the context of educational delivery should be raised with the complaints officer at support@contemporaryendo.com.
